The Platinum Jubilee is an exciting time for London residents, and it is not just because we are celebrating an unprecedented 70 years of reign by the Queen.

We have all been treated to a long 4-day weekend that is filled with events to commemorate the occasion. There will be local street parties hosted around the city along with more formal events that have been scheduled by the royal family.

To help you decide how to spend your long weekend, we have put together a list of events you should consider!

The Queen’s Birthday Parade

The Queens’ Birthday Parade, also known as Trooping the Colour, will be on Thursday June 2nd! Starting at Buckingham Palace, the parade will make its way to The Mall to Horse Guard Parade where the royal family will join and then finish back at the Buckingham palace balcony with the traditional flyover of the Red Arrows. Don’t worry if you can’t make it out of the house, there will be a broadcast on BBC One!

The Queen and members of the royal family will be attending the Cazoo Derby at Epsom Downs racetrack. It is going to be an electric atmosphere with a range if tickets available.

BBC’s Platinum Party at the Palace

The BBC and Buckingham Palace are hosting a party with live performances from a star-studded line-up like Queen, Alicia Keys, Hans Zimmer, and many more. The performance is a tribute to the Queen’s reign, including themes and designs from pop culture that have evolved during her time on the throne. The performance is ticketed but it will also stream live on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, and BBC Radio 2.
